When I began writing this post I wanted to quickly sum up all that 2020 brought me and how I got to 2021. But to be honest it was long, dense, intense, and a little tough to get through. 2020 was a tough year for pretty much everyone. And while I always lean a little to the optimistic side when looking back, it was gutting to relive all of that again. So I started fresh here and have decided to keep this a little less deep and little more positive. I want to focus on the bright future ahead for Wild Shay. So here we go....
2021 will be my first year as a full-time photographer! So, with that I took a deep look at what I wanted for the future of my business. What did I want achieve in this first year, what would my client experience look like, how do I balance my schedule, where do I want to be in 5 years? These big questions seemed daunting at first but once I really dove in I realized how easy they were to answer. Because this is truly what I want to do. For years I've let the fear of failure determine how I lived my life. What if this doesn't work? But at this point we've got to try, right? If a global pandemic taught me anything it's that you better start doing the things you want to do because you never know where you will be, even in a year. This year, I plan to trust my gut, believe in myself, and remember that you get back what you put in.
My first step has been this labour of love, my website. I wanted to reflect the growth of Wild Shay, something that showed me as I really am so that others can be themselves in front of my camera. I wanted to take a deeper dive into what I really want to accomplish when you choose me as your photographer. I want womxn to feel confident, children to run free, and clients to walk away feeling like I captured them, as they truly are.
