Wild Kin | The Tooheys

Oh this family! I have known them for over half my life. Sandra and her family have always made me a part of their family and I will love them forever because of it. I have had so many wonderful and incredible times because of them and I was so honoured when they asked me to do their family photos.

Sandra is the reason I started this photography gig. I received a camera for Christmas and she asked if I would be interested in taking a few photos of her newest baby. I will remember that day for the rest of my life. It was the moment this all became so clear. It was the funnest afternoon and I remember thinking to myself do you think anyone would actually pay me to do this because this doesn’t feel like work. It was the ah-ha my life had been waiting for and I will forever be grateful that she even thought to ask me that day. Now I don’t know if anyone will actually see those photos because boy, I really didn’t know what I was doing, but they will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Two years later here I am with a company, a website, clients, and an amazing creative outlet all because she took a chance on me. Her support throughout the years has been my guiding light. Without all of our nights talking and drinking tea on her couch I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you Sand, for being my biggest cheerleader, my confidant, and the best friend a girl could ask for.

You and your women, four generations of strong women, will always be my muse.

Wild Kin | Josh, Marisa, Benen & Sully, Campbell River

It was a downpour when I pulled into the parking lot the morning of this Wild Kin Family Session. Pouring. Like kept my coat on to go outside and still got soaked west coast pouring rain. The forecast was telling me it was going to clear up the moment our session started and I crossed my fingers that it was going to. When Marisa and her beautiful family arrived, it was still pouring so we sat in our cars for 10 minutes and finished our coffees waiting it out. I ran out to the beach to make sure that the big black cloud was moving away from us and that blue sky was moving towards us and thankfully it was.

At almost 8am on the dot the clouds parted, we smiled at each other through droplet covered windows and knew this was our moment. The sun came out for us that day at full force and we weren't complaining about it for one moment. It was such a wonderful morning from watching Josh make Benen belly laugh to witnessing Benen's first time in the ocean I couldn't have asked for a more perfect morning with such a wonderful family.

Marisa, your love for your family radiates in these photos. The smiling facing of your boys are a testament to your beautiful soul and dedication to your family. It was such an honour to be the one to capture that for you and be a part of Josh's birthday and Benen's seven month milestone.

Thank you so much for choosing me as your mothers day gift what an incredible honour.

Wild Kin | Max's Cake Smash

Haylee, Marcus, and Max are the kids you want to have. They are smart, kind, adventurous, loving, and hilarious. I'll think you'll see what I mean. Their personalities shine through and I left with such a full heart.

The tiniest (so far) but most likely to be the biggest of the clan turned 1 and we celebrated with a cake smash session for Max with his big brother and sister. This day was incredibly special to me as it took me back one year to when I first decided to turn my photography into a business. Max was just a few weeks old when his momma asked me to do a few newborn photos and I fell instantly in love with him and being behind the camera. I had that life ah-ha moment where I thought “would someone actually pay me for this because I could do this everyday?”. Since that day I have been working so hard to learn, grow, and take in as much as I can when it comes to photography. I’m incredibly thankful to Max’s momma for trusting me to capture this special moment – her last baby turning 1!

These kids are some of my favourites, Haylee’s sweet nature and mothering quality, Marcus’ fierce attitude but loving hair twirls, and Max’s sneaky little side eye are just a few of my favourite things about them. Their love for each other runs deep and I can’t wait to watch them grown in front of me and my lens.

Happy 1st Birthday Max, we love you like crazy!
